About

James “JD” Botsford is a San Diego-based screenwriter, author, and storyteller with a lifelong passion for the written word, writing and illustrating his first book at the age of 11. In 2003, he published Hijinks at Six Feet, a collection of autobiographical short stories celebrated for its humor, honesty, and heart. Three years later, he wrote and staged Mourning Sickness, a one-act play based on one of the collection’s stories.

JD completed his first two feature screenplays in 2024 — I’m Fine, an Official Selection at the Alpine International Film Festival and a Finalist at the Palm Springs International Screenplay Competition, and Julian, a Semi-Finalist. He is currently developing three additional screenplays.

He writes stories rooted in real human experience — exploring the psychological thrilling side of human relationships.
